The art is cool, although pricey, the people are lacking.
This is a brilliant place to get custom framing done. They have a great selection of top shelf quality moldings, and Tom the owner is always willing to lend his well trained eye to help you with a final decision. We recently had one oil painting cleaned and framed, and two large water colors framed...all tree came out awesome. If you have art that you really care about, this is the place to go in Austin. If you have posters, Hobby Lobby should be good enough. This is a place with quality products and service. I highly recommend it.
I happened in to Artworks recently and was thrilled to find such a great collection of glass sculptures and abstract paintings. It was fun to find that many of the paintings were by local artists and were priced so reasonably. The folks working there were exceptionally friendly and made me feel welcome. I can't wait to go back and feast my eyes again!
Mark and Mark came out to hang pictures at our new house. This was one of the most brilliant ideas I could have ever had. They were professional, precise and great at helping launch our art in our home. I've requested them to come back to do our photo gallery.
It's got to the point where I don't even try to pick out the frame anymore. Tom, the owner, is just that much better at his craft than most people. It's worth the extra 100 bucks for their expertise and aesthetic. I still feel this way after learning to frame my own paintings.
Stuffy and pricey. I went in asking about getting matting for a poster and they were like "oh we dont do that we only do full service, you would need to order it through us" when I asked if they knew anywhere else that might help, they had no idea, just very unhelpful. I mean, all you have to say is Michael's its pretty straightforward here guys.
