I got community service :(
I recently was mailed a letter about a ticket for an expired inspection that I received TWO YEARS ago. At the end of 2014, had gotten my car inspected (3 days after receiving the citation) and mailed in proof and a check to dismiss the ticket. Fast forward to the present, they send me this letter informing me I owe $200 for the expired inspection because the paperwork had not been fully finished back in 2014. So I bring in proof that I got the inspection with a smile on my face and a sweet disposition. The clerks at the Travis County precinct were very helpful and kind. My problem is with Judge Susan Steeg, who refused to dismiss this ridiculous charge. I am a good person. I am a dean's list student, i work full time, I volunteer, I pay my taxes, and I hold open doors for the elderly... And yet The "Honorable" Judge Susan Steeg felt it necessary to punish me for..... What? I got my car inspected. I never treated anyone disrespectfully in the process of trying to get it dismissed... It feels like I'm being punished in order for her to take home a bigger paycheck. I am disgusted and appalled at this experience. This experience has really caused me to lose faith in our governing system.
She seems to be on top of things.
