A jewel of Texas. The staff are dedicated, professional and incredibly knowledgeable. They are jewels of this state, as well, and unsung heroes of information science for our state. Any library in Texas has TexShare online databases, thanks to the Texas State Library, which provides everyone with unbelievable access to information that would cost thousands of dollars to subscribe to.
This is an amazing library that Texans should use more often. It's right by the capital. Beautiful building with friendly staff and lots to discover.
It's easy to be dazzled by the State Capitol next door, but don't overlook the Texas State Library and Archives building. From the imposing front doors with emblems of Texas and the inspiring quotes carved into the building's exterior, you enter a recently restored and beautiful, ornate entry area, with important historical documents and items featured in the foyer. An extensive photo and book collection is readily available, with seating if you want to research. A real gem.
I traveled out of state just to visit this historical repository, and had a very pleasant day conducting research at TSL & Archives. I was assisted by several very nice staff members especially archivist Tonia!
