Sitting in the couch facing over 30 works by Hunt Slonem for my sublime satisfaction was worth every cent of the entrance fee. I thought deeply about the over one hundred museums throughout the world that exhibit his art , the exquisite choice of background colors and rich tapestry of Western Civilization expressed as a chalice to present the various rabbits. Having read Mr. Slonem's biography I pondered how fortunate for him to be born in the year of the rabbit and not the pig which would have limited his exposure in the Islamic world. Nor would it have been a winner to have been born in the year of the Goat, which would have possibly worked the concept into the mind of a potential buyer. Instead, we have rabbits, or one per art work, in various motifs from looking frightened to possibly road kill. Not to be considered a minimalist despite only one rodent like creature per work because the term would be grotesque against a 30,000 foot studio, $11,000 per rendering (pardon my crass use of the word in the discussion of rabbits), and plethora of images...do these art works breed?..The artist describes the countless objects that revive his mind and serve as a muse for his art and yet he seems never to get two rabbits into one work...perhaps he should consider reading as a muse.
Amazing art and people!
Extremely disappointed. In no way was this a tribute to Pierre Argillet. It was a disappointing attempt to sell a few pieces of fine art set to a local country music station. There were no pics of the two together or any information concerning their 50yr relationship. To contemplate purchasing a Dali with Keith Urban singing in the background was quite interesting.
I visited this gallery in response to an invitation to the Dell Children's Trust Annual Art of Giving. Though I am not an art aficionado, I can speak to the following. The staff were all pleasant, and treated the event with great respect. The art pieces displayed in my view, ranged from classic to contemporary. I would suggest you visit The Russell Collection, as there are also a few other galleries with in walking distance.
