I love this place because it unabashedly sells books about topics that are not found that easily even in Austin. The store also hosts author/activist talks from time to time which I find both vital and interesting. From what I understand, this is a volunteer run store and it's more like a collective effort. The titles confront everything you thought you knew about history and makes you think, really think about the history and current plight of the cultures represented there.
I guess a closed bookstore is resistance...

The only resistance you'll find here is a locked door. It's always closed all three times I've stopped by.
