The savory treats and sweets are delicious but get there early to get your pick of the best items. Inside is no frills. Good place to meet with someone for a casual meeting. They have a few parking spots and there is generally street parking available if theirs are all taken. One of the better bakeries in Austin imo.
The best bakery in Austin! A celebrated bakery/ Cafe as it's been in Austin over 40 years. Amazing pastries ,cakes and cookies. You can stop in for a quick soup and sandwich or stay for a daily special with a latte and finish your homework with the free WiFi. I love the quaint neighborhood atmosphere. Plus there's plenty of free on site parking. Check it out.
There used to be a second location in our office building. We all ate there several days a week for 10 years and never tired of it. We visit the original 6th street location now and it is still wonderful.
Just be sure to get there early to get a good selection of breakfast treats, they sell out!
Gem in West downtown, and one of the best bakeries in Austin. Pastries and cakes are to die for. Service is always polite and quick and it always feels like a cute little old fashion bakery. Parking can be hard to find on 6th St but they have a lot in the back that has plenty of room.
I ordered a White Cake with Buttercream frosting for my mom's birthday. After 1 slice, we threw it out. It was the WORST cake I have ever had. When I picked up the cake the service was terrible. I waited ten minutes to get the cake, and there were only 3 other people in the store. The woman working behind the counter could not have been more rude. She was very short with me, and it seemed like I was bothering her by asking her to do her job? It was very odd. I used to love this place. I always suggest this to friends visiting or anyone new to Austin, but unfortunately I will never go here again.
NOT one of the better coffee shops though. Don't go for the coffee, not that it's bad, just nothing to write home about.
