The USPS really knows how to inflict unnecessary pain. After several days, long drives, and failure to communicate on their part. We went to the Travis Country Clerks office to get my child's passport. We walked in, and walked out an hour later. Passport is underway, and it was not a painful process. So if you need to get a passport handled, go to 5501 Airport Blvd, skip the post office. Jonathon was a fantastic help in expediting the process.
If you're getting your passport- HEADS UP! When they say they're closing at 5- they really mean 4:30. I got out of work early (which is not an easy task) with a pre filled out application (I just needed my picture taken) and rushed there- arrived at 4:30 on the dot but there was no one at the desk- when she finally 'greeted' me, she said they stop taking applications at 4:30- it was 4:33 after waiting for her to show up- and SHE STILL WOULDN'T HELP ME even after calmly explaining I was on a time crunch and pleaded for her to be a descent human being. There are no words loud and livid I am. Shame on you.
Made two trips, to apply for a marriage license and then get certified copies of the marriage license and both times everyone we dealt with was efficient, pleasant and helpful. We arrived between 8am-9am for both trips and were seen to immediately.
I have done business with 5 other county courthouses in the last 6 months, and Travis County was by far the most courteous of the bunch. I Was greeted promptly, waited on in a timely manner and was treated with great courtesy. Thanks for the pleasant experience.
