1. Vehicle Safety Inspection Report
Renewal gets done in under 5 mins by a patient and thorough Tax Specialist. Leave Relieved with the new registration sticker and receipt. Credit card payments include a 3% fee for processing. Expect to pay $50 - $100. The other 'TXXX' tokens were getting processed in similar pace.
I know the "system" doesn't work well, but had enclosed my paper copy (I know this from the past). So I thought, maybe they didn't see it, I'm going to call (slightly annoyed).
Thanks Travis County Tax Office Registration Personnel!!
Never been to this office or a tax office before. Maybe bad timing? But I had to wait 1+ hours to pick up my specialty license plates for one of my cars. Yes, to pick up and walk away. Maybe they should automate and mail "all" of these instead of Tax Office pick ups. It would cut down on the amount of people waiting for sure. Could deal with any additional cost digitally. Maybe in a few more years!
I've got to say I'm pleasantly surprised. Although I've had next to no problems with this office over the years, today I thought I did. I had mailed in my vehicle renewal and it came back with an orange notice with the box checked that I needed a Vehicle Inspection because they couldn't verify it electronically.
This nice, professional and helpful woman did a great job making an annoying little hassle go away. Thanks so much!
After a fairly long hold, I got a very nice woman on the phone, Daniela Hernandez. She tried to look my info up, but the system was down. Then we determined that the VIN number the shop put into my Inspection Report was off by a digit. She fixed it, took my credit card info (after warning me about the $3 "service" charge), and emailed me the receipt. The sticker is in the mail and the problem fixed.
I went to go do a title transfer and registration. I asked the person at the front if I had everything I needed and they said I'd be fine with what I had. I waited about an hour and when I finally was called I was told that I didn't actually have what I needed and that I would need to come back. I came back another day and completed all necessary forms properly. Now I'm trying to sell my car and I realized the title never came in the mail. When I looked at the title application receipt, I realized that my zip code was typed incorrectly. Now I have to pay for a certified copy of the title and wait for it to come in the mail.

Definitely use the option to get your place in line ahead of time. If not you will be waiting over an hour. The staff is friendly and helpful here. Made the wait seem not so bad once it was my turn.
Went here to get a registration sticker!! The person at the information desk gives you an estimated wait time and a RXXX token. Registration-renewal is quick. Waited 30-40 mins here as my number was 30 away. When your token number is called take your
