Great price, first two hours free then a dollar per half hour. Great way to see the city, it's right next to the visitors center at the Capitol where the people are very helpful and there are lots of maps, brochures, and other good material.
The parking garage itself is wonderful, but the cost is never consistent. You can drive all the way there and then find out it's going to be $25 that day. If you're going at 10 am on a Tuesday, you're probably fine (unless there is literally any type of event going on anywhere nearby, then forget it). If you want to go see the Capitol at any other time, be prepared to spend a lot of money.
I love TEXAS but the parking is not free even though it's supposed to be. There was a sack dragger standing at the automated parking ticket dispenser trying to collect.
They have outsourced parking to a private company who charged $10 for an hour of parking on Saturday, 6/17. There was no special event and the lot was almost empty. We love bringing out of state guests to the State Capitol and have been using the parking garage for years with no issues. Will have to think about other options in the future.
