I'd definitely rent a bike from these guys again, got a bike, a lock and lights on the rental bike. It wasn't a perfect brand new mountain bike but it was the perfect transport to get from the hotel to the ACL festival and around town while I was there for 4 days.
Renting bikes from Bike Rental Austin was one of the best decisions we made during our stay. They were so kind and easy to work with and the fact that they drop off and pick up at any location made it so convenient! Being able to text with them made communication a breeze!
BRA dropped the bike off at my hotel and picked it up again, extremely easy to coordinate pickup and drop off w these folks.
Some of the bike components may be worn (handlebars, seats, lights), but the critical components to get you from point A to point B is well maintained (probably has better tuned gear changes than my brand new bike from Cannondale). Best of all, you get all of this for a very affordable price.
I'd recommend these folks to friends and will rent from them again.

I rarely write reviews, but my experience with this 'mom & pop' bike rental company was excellent to say the least.
We were in town for ACL, first time in Austin. From the initial reservation to the bike 'return' (they actually drop off and pick up the bike at a convenient location for you, i.e. our hotel) it was flawless customer service interaction, easy transaction, and great communication (extremely responsive to text you the details of your lock combo, drop off/pick up location, reminders, etc.).
We had a wonderful time riding bikes in McKinney Falls! They delivered the bikes to us, with short notice, were extremely reasonable to work with, and they picked the bikes up wherever we wanted them to! It was no hassle at all! I would absolutely recommend them and ride again many times!
We'll definitely be 'seeing' them again for next year's ACL festival!
