Above average food menu for a sports bar. Had the grilled catfish and it was amazing! Great fast service! Highly recommend this sports bar.
I was was watching the game here when my grandfather had gotten out of surgery. I, naturally, wanted to call him to see how he was doing. I asked the doorman if I could step just one step outside because it was so loud. He firmly asserted I could not leave, even if I was right outside the door. I explained my situation, expecting to be met with some compassion. He rolled his eyes at me, scoffed, and told me “I don’t care. Text him or something”. I looked at him in disbelief at how rude he was to me. I chose not to combat him and went to the bathroom to make the phone call.
I love this place. Definitely gets ridiculously crowded during games but that's part of the appeal to some.
This bar is one of my go-to places to watch sports events. Love coming here with friends, atmosphere is awesome, and great amount of tvs! However, my experience with the doorman when I came here for game 7 of the World Series really put me off.
I understand he had a job to do, but giving someone the respect and decency to make one short phone call to a loved one shouldn’t garner a rude, ugly response. The fabulous wait staff and great food service were the only thing keeping me from a one star rating, because they do not deserve that. I will no longer be coming to lavaca st bar when this doorman is working.
Good spot to watch sports. The food is typical bar food, so it's pretty good but nothing amazing. The only downside is that this place can get really crowded for big games, making it hard to get a table.
Home sweet home. Best bar in Austin. Friendly, knowledgeable, and speedy service. The staff isn't bad to look at either
