I wanted to try so many other things on the menu, but pretty much everything was $35/plate when I went. I'd give this place a 4.2/5 (not a 4).

Went to Perla's on a whim as the weather was nice and I wanted to sit outside. I've been in Austin for 10+ years, and have visited so many restaurants, but never made it to Perla's until now (Mongers, Juniper, Lenoir, Red Ash, Vespaio!)

It was a nice environment. Wished they happy hour menu had more choices of food. Place gets very jam packed though. I would recommend to friends and family.

The prices were really high though. I looked around and noticed the clientele was older: probably averaging 40 on South Congress. Our one app, a beer, a glass of wine, a lobster roll, and scallops (3) was $110 w/o tip. That didn't really include any sides except for shoe string fries that came with the roll. Sides were all $8-$14 and are intended to be shared.

My husband had a grilled fish sandwich and Brussels sprouts.

We went for lunch and the food was outstanding! Had the grilled octopus, shrimp ceviche, cornmeal breaded oysters, and shrimp creole. Everything was delicious and the presentation beautiful. The waiter was very friendly and attentive. We're definitely going back for a dinner while visiting in Austin. Can't go wrong!

It was a little pricey but worth the splurge.

Perla's is the perfect spot if you're in the mood for seafood. Located on the ever so popular South Congress strip, this restaurant not only gives you great food but great views and location. Do not pass on the grilled octopus or ceviche, both world class. If weather permits sit outside and enjoy the hip atmosphere.

Our waitress was wonderful and they were all so accommodating with my salt restrictions.

I enjoyed my meal. I split a wedge salad with thousand island dressing topped with crab meat. I had seared scallops with a cauliflower puree that were not overcooked and served perfectly. My fiance had a lobster roll that was a bit disappointing. They had a nice lobster mix placed on top of a roll that wasn't flat, nor cut open. I think the roll should have been cut so that you could actually get some of the lobster down in it and not spill off everywhere. It would have been KILLER if they melded it with a Raisin Canes piece of flat Texas toast with a slight crunch.

I had the grilled Mahi with the hand cut shoe string fries and a side of butternut squash. They didn't put seasoning on anything (at my request) and it was all outstanding!

This place was so fantastic that we went back the next night.
