That burgers are 5 star... Up until about a month ago the entire experience was 5 star. Least 4 and a half... But now, with new owners, the prices have soared 30-40%. Service is now at a all time low... Two burgers, fries, delivered.. $30? Plus tip. Seems like a stretch.. One things for sure they are good!
Stopped eating after taking first bite of grilled chicken burger. Eat raw chicken from HEB better than this one. Paid $10.50.for worthless food. Stay away.
Very disappointed. New ownership. Cheap tasteless cheese. Their cheese used to be the best. That's what kept us coming. Now it's the worst. Gumball machines are empty for the kids, salad dressings are cheap now no Thousand Island. I asked for pizza that they forgot. Never put on the buffet. When they finally did put it on the buffet they didn't even let me know and it was gross because they rushed it. There was only one other table occupied. Not going back. It's a shame that another great place Bites the Dust.
I am VERY VERY DISAPPOINTED with the new ownership at 1626. If you were a fan of their pizza before DO NOT go and waste your money , the pizza is a C+ at best and the staff isn't much better. Myself along with 20+ others had the buffet and they would bring out 2 pizzas at a time which were gone immediately and had to wait 15-20 minutes in between for 2 more pizzas.. I used to go there up to 5-6 times a month BUT I'm pretty sure my last time was tonight.. New ownership, DON'T TRY AND FIX SOMETHING THAT ISN'T BROKE.....
A Manchaca area mainstay, I have been coming here for years. Cafe 1626 is always consistently good and the service is great. Kind of a hole-in-the-wall feel. Great place for families with the arcade, albeit everything is old and kinda dirty, but kids don't care. Little known secret is their wings are excellent and so is their veggie burger if you choose to ignore the buffet and open the menu. Four stars only because the place always feels a little grungy and the pizza is good but not great.
