Never again. My meeting with the doctor at Austin Pain Associates was brief - in and out in a couple of minutes. The instructions I received on how to prepare for my procedure were wrong and incomplete, causing me to have to have the procedure without sedation (which was super awesome...). As soon as the injections were done I was wheeled into a room and told to get dressed as 2 minutes later I was walked out a side door and into the parking lot, where I had to walk back to the waiting room to find my wife. It made me feel super cared for... And now for the best part... Never once in the course of preparing for the injections did anyone ever mention that my pain levels might get worse. No once. They DID say things like "It can take a few days to get full results, but some people experience immediate relief." My pain levels were a 6 when I got there and a 10 when I left. We started calling them the following day when the pain had not subsided and their voicemail system makes it impossible to actually TALK to anyone. It shuffles you through an endless voicemail tree and eventually you get to leave a message. No one called me back for 5 days, and when they did they were rude and dismissive. It was my first go-round with spinal injections all I wanted to know was if my pain was normal and to be expected of if there was something to worry about. They couldn't be bothered to talk to me about it.
They don't care about their patients at all! They are forceful about those stupid injections that don't work but when a PA named Emily told me my problem was my weight and I needed to loose weight, I about lost my mind! I have degenerative disc disease! I could weigh 125 and still have problems! Never ever again!
Saw Dr Frank, after basically being told my back problems were because I was too fat and unhealthy... his attitude was very uncaring to a person's psychological health... now I can add depression and weight struggle back to my list of worries... you'd think after losing 240 lbs people would stop... but no he said I needed more that wasnt good enough... well thanks for sending me back 10 years...
A downgrade from my previous pain management doctor. Coming here was a mistake. I've had two back surgeries and I live in pain and have expressed that to them. They still would let me go a week or more in between my prescription refills with no medication when I'm supposed to take 3 doses a day.
I am a loyal and appreciative patient of Diagnostic Pain Center. I have seen Dr. Marks and Charlotte and they are both great people who really care for their patients. I am comfortable with either of them and always have a smile on my face when I have gone to see them. I have been through a lot in dealing with my pain condition and they have done everything they can do to help me no matter how difficult it may seem. The first time I went to Diagnostic Pain Clinic I was coming out of a bad situation with a failing pain clinic in the Austin area that was falling apart and I was pretty leary of any new doctors. When in chronic pain it is almost impossible not to see a pain specialist. I went up to the front desk at Diagnostic Pain and said, "If you were in chronic pain would you come here?" She said, "Yes. Absolutely. I would trust Dr. Marks with my life." I will never forget that. Especially because Dr. Marks, as well as his wonderful staff, have become friends as well as medical professionals who truly do care for my life.
Do yourself a favor and find somewhere else to go. Someplace where they actually care about the patients.
