A beautifully constructed theater! The seats are super comfy, the food and drinks are delicious, and the entertainment is well-curated.
I wouldn't mind returning to see a movie here, but it certainly would not be my first choice. There are several other comfortable theaters in town. One of the reasons I would chose Alamo in the past was to have a meal during the movie. With the current menu, I am encouraged to look elsewhere. The food selection has little to no appeal to me.. mostly no appeal.
Disappointments: The food. I can no longer find simple basic food that once existed in the past. No simple pizzas, no basic burger. Why are all the sandwiches polluted with stuff I never put on a sandwich and who decided that all queso has to have green hatch chili in it?
If you've been to an Alamo Drafthouse you know what to expect. Great service, clean seats and clean bathrooms. This one is configured a little differently in that the lobby is super small. The seats have the option to recline. The menu is good for what it is, but it is getting pricier
I am an Alamo fan, but I am not impressed with the Mueller location, architecture or the menu. I ordered Avocado toast mainly because there were few snack options that fit my not too hungry, not too heavy state of body, and the price to portion ratio for the toast seemed shockingly high (this from a guy who will happily pay $8 for a pint of good craft beer). I found the architecture off putting at best, the imposing stairs, the hidden elevator, the large number of employee only doors on the main hallway and, the fun but un-integrated decorative elements. On the positive side, I will say the seats were extra comfortable and the wide aisles made getting to your seat easy. As always , staff were very curteous, welcoming, and informative. Oh, and I did enjoy the movie.
My family and I like to come here for movies for All Abilities aka Baby Day. The food is decent and most of the time the staff is on the A game. The restaurant downstairs, Barrel of Fun has a full menu similar to the theater and a full bar. They will host special events such as kids karaoke and storytimes on occasion. Upstairs there are unisex stalls as well as urinals for males and some nice family restrooms that accommodate our family nicely. There is also a balcony to sit out on and enjoy the views of Aldrich Street.
We brought our toddler here for her first movie theater experience, and she loved it. The event was an all-ages screening of some Halloween-themed cartoons, benefiting PBS. It also included a Toy Joy-sponsored event afterwards, with games and a build-your-own toy monstrosity station (a la Sid from Toy Story). Another fun, unique event from the Alamo Drafthouse!
Likes: The movie part of the experience. By that I mean, it was comfortable and clean. The screen was sharp, clear and unobstructed. The chairs were very relaxing to sit in. These are what I expect when I go to the movies. Oh, and the beer. A decent selection of beer is available.
