The place is use for a variety of events including concerts, Austin City Limits Festival, etc. Is a very nice place to visit to just relax and lay on the grass and read a book or listen to music, take your kids and pets to play, workout, do yoga, etc. It has been remodeled recently and it looks wonderful, lots of public restrooms, water fountains, gazebo, workout bars, running trails, lots of well kept grass, free parking lots, no entrance fees, and it offers a fantastic view of downtown's skyline over the river on the other side. Wonderful night view. I, Joy Dolluxe (Eden Joy Molina), strongly recommend you to visit the place, especially on festivities and events. I guarantee you will come back over and over again.
Austin is lucky to have this park so near downtown. The site for music events on the big open lawns. Or just milling about along the river on lazy afternoons. Across the river is downtown and on the same side as the park to the immediate south is Palmer Auditorium and the Long Center which also have outside events all year long.
I visited this place yesterday November 19 for the 25th House The Homeless Sunrise Memorial Service and it was wonderful.
This place is so amazing to take your dogs to. Probably one oft he best parks. Reason why I knocked off a star is because of the parking, water access for your dogs to drink. There's one area that's completely out of the way for your dogs to get something to drink. There's little to no parking for how many people go & for how big of a park it is. You almost have to park .4 miles away from the area.
This is undoubtedly the best view in Austin. You must go. Do it at night, when the lights reflect off the water! There's parking and a dog park nearby.
Music thrives in Austin. The coolness of the lake, the grassy meadow. Relax and enjoy.
