First I have to say we visited this restaurant fairly soon after they had opened, so maybe all the kinks weren’t quite worked out yet. My boyfriend and I came in for an early dinner, so there were very few customers. I ordered the “home style” chicken strips, macaroni and cheese, and fried okra. I knew as soon as they brought everything out that something was off with the macaroni. It was a cup filled up about half way with elbow macaroni with what appeared to be cheese that had sat out for so long it was dry and crusted on the noodles. I sent it back right away, seeing as all of the creamy goodness had evaporated out of it, I’m assuming in the past few hours since it had been made. The waiter returned with a full cup of creamy delicious macaroni, and said they had just made a new batch. The chicken strips and fried okra were of the disappointing frozen variety, most likely out of a bag. I guess I was expecting hand breaded chicken strips seeing as they’re charging $10. My boy got the fried seafood combo. He seemed to like it; the catfish was nicely breaded and fried. I’m willing to give this place another try based on the second serving of macaroni.
Solid spot to get some authentic Southern Cuisine
