Overall, this school is not worth the fuss, and while the average scores may be higher than the national average, that is purely the students’ intelligence and not due to the environment in which the students are in. The only pro to this school is the love and care that the students display to one another (most of the time).

I've been with APA for almost 9 years now. The faculty and staff make it their priority to ensure that every student succeeds and graduates with good Islamic understanding as well as great academic preparation. With this level of commitment, the school is no longer a school, it becomes a second home.

I attend middle school here, and have been with APA for 7 years now. Their teachers are extremely welcoming. And they allow 3rd through highschool to participate in competitions.

While this school has few pros, there are many cons that outweigh any possible good there is. The teachers here are outwardly rude-- scolding students for not understanding a concept on almost a daily basis teaches students that asking questions is not okay and makes students feel like they are not smart enough. In an Islamic studies class, if the students asked questions that may have expressed concerns about Islam, they were told that "No logical questions are allowed". If no logical questions are allowed, then what is the point of a school and classroom environment.

The staff is managed poorly and the principal has way too much power. For paying so much the quality of this school's education is beyond disappointing.

A student's mental health is at risk at this school. They have no proper counselor whom the students feel safe around. This school has driven students to insanity and has led some students down a very serious path of depression. Students have come to hate learning rather than appreciate it in this school and that is a characteristic unique to APA- making students hate school and learning.

Uniform is terrible...

Policies at this school are also made up on the fly-- the rule-book and what is enforced in person are contradictory. When the principal is challenged, she becomes petty and very unprofessional. She patronizes many of the students as well.

I am also not sure as to where some of our tuition funds go because we pay a separate field trip fee and there are yet to be any field trips in my few years of experience at APA. When any of these concerns are brought up, we are confronted with the "this is not a democracy" argument. I understand a school environment is not a "student rule" place but every time a concern is brought up, students should not be shut down immediately.
