In the past I had tried different ways of learning meditation through recordings, etc. My partner took me here to the Austin Shambhala center (about 17 years ago) to receive meditation instruction. It changed my life. If you are focused on learning, they offer an excellent curriculum for a lifetime of study and practice. If you are simply looking to meditate and connect with supportive people, this is also the place. Check out their monthly calendar for classes, meditation instruction, and public meditation practice. Be sure to stay for tea and snacks on Sundays at noon after the "public sit." It's a great way to relax, meet friendly faces, and learn what the center has to offer. If you are a parent to a child 13 or under, there is also a wonderful program for children on the first Sunday of every month.

I have been a part of the Austin Shambhala Meditation Center community for several years now and I could not imagine a better spiritual home. The people here are so supportive and kind. The programs are accessible and wonderful experiences. My quality of life has improved since discovering and committing to meditation practice. If you're searching for a path or just curious about meditation, it's well worth your time to stop by and see for yourself.

I found the Center when I was waiting to become a mom. I know my parenting would be so much different without the teachings I've received there. And I love bringing my children to the events for families and the whole sangha (community). I always feel so free to communicate with everyone there, even strangers, openly and honestly which is priceless. Everyone is supportive even when one of my children is having a hard time doing what everyone else is doing.

This is a lovely peaceful place with a thriving and welcoming community. The intro to meditation on Sunday mornings is an excellent way to learn to meditate. The community offers come and go meditation on Sundays from 9-12, so you can sit for anywhere from 5 minutes to 3 hours. At noon on Sundays they offer a community tea where you can get to know people there. They have a thriving family program and a thriving young mediators program. Wednesday nights they have an open discussion group for conversations about Buddhism that is very insightful and helpful. There are at least 9 different times every week to practice there. This meditation community is thriving. It's changed my life. I'm so grateful to be a part of this welcoming group.

I had been meditating a bit, but was interested in finding what was called a Sangha. I had no idea. I found a few that really helped me, yet something was missing. By luck I stumbled into Shambhala. They really run a great program! Kids program every first Sunday. Meditation instructors that are full of wisdom. All kinds of classes that help you learn how to find true joy! I am a life longer!
