I've used this mechanic twice, once for an a/c compressor and another time with my brakes, and I feel like I got price gouged with accompanying shotty work. The a/c compressor that I paid $1,100 for 2 years ago went out again at 2 years on the nose. When I took it back, the mechanic thought I should be super happy that the manufacturer was going to replace the part at no charge and all I had to pay them was $650 for the labor. My previous compressor was 9 years old, and the average price for a new one is $150-$300. That means that they put in the cheapest piece of junk part that they could find and upcharged it to almost $500. I had the same experience with my brakes. I spent almost $600 on a brake job a year and a half ago, and they are already going out again. They've lost my business.
I had recently moved to the area and with my luck my AC compressor went out. I was google searching mechanics in the area and Austin Automotive came up. Now I tend to go by reviews when choosing a place, but when I saw these guys I had a great feeling from the start. Eric was so nice to me from the start and I told him everything I needed done and how I have my own parts so all I needed was labor. He gave me a fair quote and made sure nothing else was wrong with my car and he went to work on it. He kept me up date with phone calls and even told me that a part I had was wrong and needed to get it replaced and told me cost up front. I spend a little more than what I was planning, but having the service that I was given. I was more than happy paying a little more, specially knowing I'm in good hands. I would go back to these guys for any future repairs and would recommend them to anyone!!!
Good experience and would recommend it for your repair/service needs. Eric and Andy were knowledgeable and attentive. I felt like they were upfront and honest about the repair needs. Pricing was competitive and the repair was done in a timely manner. I had the added complexity of needing to have my truck towed which was done professionally. High marks for this business
I couldn't more satisfied with my visit to Austin Automotive specialist. I had a weird sounds coming from what i had been told was my control arms from other auto places. Turns out it was a loose bolt that needed to be tightened from a previous repair! I will definitely be referring all my friends here from now on.
I found Austin Automotive Specialists on Google and gave them a call after my car had been sitting for 6 months and my brakes were grinding. Andy was polite and helpful, recommending they take a look as it could be minor. He booked me in quickly and they took a look for free, letting me know it was just rust and cleaned it off for me. They also did a once over on the whole car at my request and explained each action they recommended and printed out a quote for me. I appreciated their straightforward and friendly approach, and plan to use them as my primary mechanic!
