I was referred to Dr. Nelson for diagnosis of breast cancer. At first we communicated well. Until, I was sent to an Oncologist that she directs all of her patients too. The Oncologist wanted to give me eight weeks of chemo. I decided to go to MD Anderson and get another opinion. After spending three weeks in Houston with a battery of testing, they determined that radiation would be the best way to treatment my cancer. NO CHEMO was necessary. I am cancer free and feel great as a result of their treatment.
Do yourself a favor and do not seek treatment from a doctor who is looking to fund her next vacation.
My mom was successfully treated for an unusual form of breast cancer by Dr. Nelson. After surgery, no chemo or radiation was necessary, and my mom is now over 10 years cancer free. She continues to see Dr. Nelson for her regular care. When it appeared I might have a problem, my GYN recommended that I see a specialist and Dr. Nelson was on her short list of preferred specialists. I do not have cancer, but now see Dr. Nelson for ongoing care to monitor the issue I do have and I find her to be calm, caring and down-to-earth in her views, treatment, and manner. My mother and I recommend Dr. Nelson.
Returning to Austin, I called on Dr. Nelson requesting a follow up examination. I was told by her staff (communicated from Dr. Nelson), that I should remain with MD Anderson. Basically, because I did not spend my money and do the treatment she suggested I was "released" from her care recently.
