Edit: since they've been released they didn't help with getting the patient into regular outpatient care. Left him to fend for himself. Luckily said patient was able to find a doctor, but will be without his meds for over a week. The doctors at Austin Oaks do not care about this fact, while somewhat understandable as the patient is no longer a patient of theirs, you would think that they would care about the health and wellbeing of the patients they serve. If this was 6 months later I'd be more understanding, but they know how long it takes to get into a psych appointment and would be more willing to help transition into outpatient care.
Communication is all over the place.
I am dealing with a very severe Medical issue and the Oaks accommodated every special need that I required in order to be able to stay there.
Not one time did I lose my dignity or my pride when I was there!
His therapists were wonderful. I felt that the hospital was very communicative on a daily basis.
It seems they're not in it for the patients best interest but to line their pockets.
Love this place!! I just finished 3 weeks of their adolescent outpatient program and it was very helpful. I was there for depression and anxiety. The staff was extremely nice and cared for each individual patient. The day to day schedule was structured with 3 different therapy groups, with about 4 hours of school inbetween. Lunch was AMAZING, wasn't "hospital food" at all, they had a huge variety and the salad/fruit bar was always fresh. Plenty of drink options. I would highly recommend this program to anyone.
A voluntary admission somehow turned into them keeping a patient in longer. At first they said the patient was a danger to society due to a criminal record several months previoius to their admission. Forced the patient to take drugs they didn't want to consent to rather than finding another alternative that is more fitting.
Refusal to allow someone to leave though they came in voluntarily is what proves this point. Especially when they're refusing on a Friday, and the patient has to stay through the weekend as the doctor has to be the one to release and their out of office. Doing this give a them a couple more grand just by telling you one more day.
I would definitely recommend Austin oaks in the future to friends and family.
Well when you keep forcing someone to do things they don't want to do, that is a seemingly normal reaction.
I am surprised by the poor reviews.
I was at Austin oaks hospital, and all the staff. Was awesome I am sorry I didn't get name's. They treated me with the up most respect. People that put negative comments is because they didn't get it things their way. They have been in business for four years so they must be doing something right. So to the all the people that help me thank you so much. And to the awesome doctor too. Oh, it is cold so take warn clothes.
Austin Oaks treated me so well, the only thing that was missing was the red carpet on the floor!
Now they've decided that the patient is to stay until their blood pressure goes to a normal level.
By telling you when you have your blood pressure lowered, though don't have the medical history showing whether or not is normal range as an excuse is pretty awful. If the blood pressure is the case it makes more sense to go to a regular hospital rather than psych, especially when the patient doesn't have mental health insurance.
My son had a week stay at Austin Oaks recently before continuing onto rehab. I was very impressed with the staff here.
I highly recommend Austin Oaks to anyone who needs this type of treatment. They do not treat you poorly and they treat you with the utmost respect and dignity, with the end result of feeling at the end of your hospital stay, that you were taken care of and that a return visit is not necessary again!
The staff treated me with dignity and most definitely gave me the utmost respect! I had never been treated as good as I was treated at that hospital for the reason why I went!!!!
None of the staff acted like they were having to go out of their way, they just adapted to my needs and anytime I asked them for help, they gladly offered the help to me
Dr. Conn was my Dr and I must admit he also went out of his way to hear me out, but not only did he hear me out, he tried in every way to give me the care I had requested.
You will never ever experience a higher-quality hospital as Austin Oaks offers. I rated 5-stars and definitely recommend for anybody to go to that needs this type of treatment.
