Love the trails here. It's $6 per person to get in, but it's absolutely worth it. You get a big map of all the trails, which aren't super difficult no matter which way you go. This park is perfect for a casual hike and enjoying the scenery. Only bummer is that they don't allow pets in the water.
I came here for the first time two weeks back for a sunset hike with my boyfriend. It's an all-around beautiful and scenic park. We're very excited to make a return trip seeing as we did not have too much time the day we visited! Crossing the falls was pretty easy, we did have shoes with good traction that we don't need to take off for the wade to the other side.. but we saw many others taking their shoes off if they were prone to slipping.
We visited this place in the heat of the Texas summer, in the middle of the day, so we didn't feel like sticking around TOO long, but we had lunch beneath a large tree and walked around a bit. It's most famous for a beautiful river which runs through it - a river everyone was bathing in: families, young people, etc. Everyone was having a great time in the clean, running river. The water has carved out some great spots in the rock, and there were places to vault off into the air and land with a splash in the aquamarine pools below. My wife and I had fun walking down one of the trails a ways, and a park ranger helped us pick the trail with the most shade. Maybe don't go in the hottest part of a summer's day like we did, but otherwise, you should definitely stop by.
Nice state park near Austin. The sites are fairly small if you're coming with a group but if you get there early you can claim the better spots. Trails are nice but very easy.
This place sucks. The trails more often lead to a dead end then anywhere at all, so expect to do a lot of backtracking. Also it seems that all the apartment dwellers come here with their rescue dogs. So expect a bunch of crazy ill-behaved dogs on harnesses that will bark and pull uncontrollably at you and your dogs, while the owners laugh and think it's cute. There's a ton of people here for the amount of space, so it's almost like an amusement park with absolutely no privacy, or ability to actually enjoy the park. Don't even think about bringing your bike, you're not going anywhere unless you want to walk next to it on the trail, or ride it on the roads. I've never ever went to a park and actually hated the park when I left, but this place takes the cake. I will never come back here.
