The parks department keeps the area mowed so not too many stickers (but expect a little cleanup.)

July, 2018 – Phase 1 Construction Completion (Anticipated)

The dog park is at the end of Onion Creek Drive off of Pleasant Valley Drive and William Cannon. A small playground and picnic area share the parking.

August, 2017 to November, 2017 – Contractor Bidding and Award

Although most of the park is undeveloped awaiting a master plan, the off-leash dog park is open and a dog paradise. Dogs and people have access to Onion Creek so expect lots of interaction. Only one dog poo station means that the trashcans fill by the end of the weekend. A trail runs from this park to Perez Elementary.

Phase 1 Master Plan Implementation

Not a real Park, trails not well maintained. Many snakes

November, 2017 – Phase 1 Construction Begins (Anticipated)

The phase 1 development of Onion Creek Metropolitan Park will consist of approximately 30-acres of irrigated area including open play fields, a 50-space parking lot, trails and a perimeter sidewalk. An additional 20-acres will be improved for accessibility and ecological restoration through selective clearing. The anticipated phase 1 construction schedule is as follows:

Great, off-the-beaten-path trail for hikers/walkers. The trail itself is really interesting, although I had to use google maps to figure out the entry point. If you go after strong rains the paths may be a bit overgrown as the back trails aren't highly trafficked. But the scenery is really beautiful, lots of high grass fields and then hills with tiny ponds, just magical. You do have to cross a creek which is a little tricky if you don't want to get wet. I noticed it was a VERY dog friendly park, tons of dogs and owners running about. Hope everyone enjoys it and I'll be a little sad to see it developed once the master plans are worked up because as it is, its like a hidden gem.

This place is a dumping ground. It's shady as hell and didn't seem like a nice safe place to hike...I do not recommend at all. I hope the city or state will do something with this piece of open space because it seems like such a waste!!!
