It's a bit expensive compared to some vets you can find but well worth it. My fur friend has been a patient of theirs for 10 years and I'm happy to say they get better each year. Dr. Horsley is kind, attentive, understanding, detailed and makes you feel as though your pet is the most special pet in town! The front desk staff is the best and I wish some of my people-doctors had staff as good as they do. Many have been there almost as long as my dog and I hope/imagine that is a reflection of the Hospital's dedication to the employees as well as the animals

Brilliant veterinarians. Not only do they care about people's budgets, but they were able to diagnose the reason for persistent vomiting in my cat that three other veterinarians said was "normal for her age" and "not a big deal". Use this vet clinic, you will not regret it, and your animals will end up better for it.

Its sad to see Austin changing, but Austin Vet clinic is yet another example of greedy business taking over this town. If you're at all cost conscious, this place is expensive and the service isn't that great.

I'm in no way affiliated with Emancipet, but a similar round of shots for a cat is about $100, so all and all this place charges about double for basic services. I'd be scared to see what they charge for an emergency.

Besides the costs being on the high-side, I was irritated that they snuck in some pre-paid services on the invoice that I didn't notice until I got home. When I called to complain - Doug, the office manager, explained that this was their business policy for 10 years to charge for future tests, that the Vet was supposed to explain it and that I should have reviewed my invoice more carefully. Well, guess what - the veterinary that was fresh out of vet school forgot to share this information and a paper invoice was not presented to me before I paid. Is it normal for someone to call and complain about something that they were informed of and agreed to -- probably not.

This place is great. Everyone is very patient, and they've helped me to understand everything both medically and financially, and have worked with me on all kinds of details and answer any questions I've had. They don't even judge me, or pressure me, about buying my dog's meds from someone else. Highly recommended.

I'll also echo what other negative reviewers said, this business has a zero tolerance policy on no-shows, regardless of excuse. When I asked Doug, the office manager, if it was really worth losing a customer over $37 no show fee, his catty response was "well maybe if you're someone that has a hard time catching your cat then you'd be better served elsewhere". Yup, guess so.

I adopted two cats from the Austin Humane Society and when I took them in for their first round of shots it was $120 per cat, plus another $42 each for their follow-up booster shot. That's $324 combined for both cats for just routine shots! I knew I could have gotten shots cheaper through Emancipet or other low-cost vet in town, but it seemed worth building a relationship with a nearby Vet clinic in case something happened in the future.

Margarita and Shiner have both been treated so well at Austin Vet Hospital. For example, today, Margarita was transferred back to Austin Vet Hospital from the emergency vet. We arrived without an appointment first thing and they even opened the door early to let her in. I received a call after the vet checked on her and she said "she is nervous, but we know that is typical for her". It is so nice having a vet who remembers your pets quirks. It helps them provide better care. Our dogs are on a rotating 6-month schedule for getting sick and each time this office has been so great. We just really appreciate everything they do.

All and all, the staff (Doug) seemed rude and the veterinary doctors that own this business seem more concerned about profit than providing good service. I recommend going somewhere else. If you do decide to go here, you might want to review the invoice before paying.
