Loved the vet here, but because they don't take appointments I don't think I'll be back. The waiting room was way overcrowded (mid afternoon on a Friday) with animals. It was a pretty uncomfortable experience and a very long wait. I was only there for vaccines so it wasn't much of a problem, but I wouldn't want to put a sick animal through that
These guys are awesome. The Drs are friendly and informative, and they are sensitive to cost - suggesting more conservative treatment first instead of expensive tests or surgeries. With that in mind, they will tell you if a test is required and I have even been referred to another facility when Capital felt the other place could do a better/faster job. Overall, they seem more concerned with your pet's health than the health of their bank account.
You can feel a difference here. Every staff member and vet cares about you and your pet. At every single visit. Its a high functioning team that takes the time to listen to your concerns and asks questions to get to the root of the issue. They educate you on pros and cons of treatment options and will work with you on costs to meet your budget. Throughout the four years of taking my old dog here, I would frequently get calls to check in on him after treatment. I highly recommend the clinic to anyone who wants quality treatment coupled with true compassion.
Prices are affordable, and they have never recommended anything that seemed unnecessary, just to make more money.
One thing I will add is the first come first serve system may not work for everyone. I have not had a problem yet, but since the business has grown, that may be a consideration for the owners. My best advice is get there right when they open.
I took my new pup in to get her nails done - I recently adopted an old pitbull, and she needed them clipped. I brought her in and they saw her immediately, and I was out the door a few minutes later with a dog that had shorter nails, and more knowledge about how to personally take care of them. Would recommend again!
There are some complaints on the walk in policy and I always felt I could be seen quickly in the morning if I planned ahead. I recommend checking in between 7:30 to 8 and then grabbing a breakfast taco at Casa Maria around the corner. Odds are when you get back at 8:55, you will be taken straight to a room. Even if you have an appointment at other places, you could end up with a long wait or not get an appointment for a week or more. Mondays, Fridays and Saturdays are naturally busy - if it isn't urgent, go midweek. I also found it helpful to call before bringing my pet in to check on wait times.
Regarding the walk in policy:
Great people! The Veterinarians and staff are friendly and helpful. The waiting area is comfortable and cozy. Outside is an area for your pet's bathroom needs with plenty of parking.
