To begin, let me say that I have previously been here to see Dr. Akridge, who is amazing. The woman at the front desk and the tech were both lovely. So why am I so peeved that I'd leave two stars? Because I schlepped all the way to Round Rock from NW Austin to have a rehab consult for my dog, only to be be handed a price list of rehab packages and told that they were too short staffed to do anything with my dog. His gait was not even observed, I was simply asked to describe any issues I thought might exist. Why even have me come in? And then make me pay something like $43? Oh, yes, I was told the initial consult would be $30, but turns out there's also a $13 chart fee. I was in that office for literally SEVEN MINUTES and paid $43 for the privilege.
The ophthalmologist Dr. Barnes treating my dog is very attentive and did a remarkable job to get rid of his ulcer
Pricey, but saved our puppies life. Hard to put a monetary value on that.
This place won't even tell me if they have a doctor who can treat my Pomeranian's Black Skin. (Disease caused him to lose hair as the skin turns black, making him look naked in the area.) They tell me I got to have a referral before they can answer the question. 1) I got to get the question answered to get the referral to them & 2) No one needs a referral just to get the answer if they have a doctor who can treat cancer.
Arrived hoping we could get some questions about porto-systemic shunts answered, as we have a nearly 11 month old puppy afflicted by that congenital defect. Not only did we get our questions answered, but Dr. Kerpsack was very balanced in describing the competing risks and benefits of surgery vs. medical management of the condition in our pet. He also did not push for us to have extra services that would not have been helpful in the decision making process. 7 years ago, we had knee surgery for a different dog at this facility, and it turned out very well for her. We will definitely continue to use and recommend this facility.
