Car2go is a complete scam, if you try and park your car anywhere where one of their computers fails to pick up a satellite signal you are screwed. You will have to drive around aimlessly looking for a parking spot even if it is miles from your destination. If you park the car and leave it somewhere that the signal can not be read, they will charge you over a hundred dollars. You will also be charged as you drive around racking up minutes trying to get the car2go to pick up a signal so you can finish your drive and "properly park". I did not live on the outskirts of town or somewhere crazy, I live in Hyde Park and drove downtown, what a joke! I will never use it again and will never recommend it to anyone. I have never written a review for anything in my entire life but these guys take the cake for horrible customer service. I was told I would receive free minutes or sometime of a refund when I called about my issues, it's been several weeks and still nothing. If you choose to use C2G beware, be sure you are strapped for time and that you don't mind possibly walking a long distance to your actual destination.
Car2go is awesome. This service has been indispensable in getting me where I needed to go with no fuss. The price is reasonable, the membership fee is one-time, there are no upsells, and the customer service is splendid. In short, the experience is quite unlike the sleaziness of a typical car rental company.
I wish they expanded to the northern parts of the city but I am happy they are here. The Smart cars need some improvement - the shift from first to second is a bit jarring when one first encounters it. All in all, I am delighted to be a customer.
Used car2go with a vacation trip to and from the airport. Great experience! Much easier and less expensive than driving and parking our personal car.
Fast & Easy...sometimes. When it works, it works GREAT, when it doesn't, it REALLY doesn't. The cars are generally clean & well maintained. Most of the time, they are readily available. They are not a lot of help during Austin Film Festival, since one of their main venues, Galaxy Theater, isn't in the Car2Go service area. Also, downtown on Monday night, there might not be any for miles. I mostly use the service when heading downtown so I don't have to deal with parking nightmares. Designated parking, especially during events & festivals is a huge time-saver. The problem is after. Their app often crashes from over-use, which can make getting home a bit problematic. Other concerns: a) They don't service the Arboretum area, which is where I live, so I still have to drive some to use them; 2)Cars that show up on the app as "available" are actually in locked/restricted access lots which make them very much not available.
They are trying. Could be a bit more affordable and accessible.
